Frontiers Welcomes Two New Sponsoring Partners
We are delighted to announce that the Center for Research on Abroad and International Student Engagement (RAISE Center) at Wake Forest University and CEA CAPA have joined us as sponsoring partners of Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad. Their support will help us advance our mission to foster rigorous scholarship and meaningful dialogue across the academic community.
This announcement comes after a lengthy process of dialogue and review to ensure that our new sponsoring partners’ values and goals for scholarly publishing in our field are aligned with Frontiers’ longstanding commitment to academic rigor, editorial independence and ethics. As our editorial decisions remain guided by this commitment and the expertise of our editorial team, we look forward to working with our new partners in ways that enhance the journal’s reach and impact while upholding the values that have always defined our work.
Through these partnerships, we will collaborate on initiatives that strengthen the journal’s reach and impact. For example:
- With CEA CAPA, we are already collaborating to host the 2026 Woolf Symposium in conjunction with our annual conference. There is still time to propose a presentation (click here to learn more).
- With the RAISE Center at Wake Forest University, we will be organizing a research symposium in 2026 to encourage and develop emerging scholars in the field.
These collaborations are designed to enhance the visibility and accessibility of high-quality research and essays while maintaining the editorial integrity that defines our journal. Each event will result in a sponsored special issue published by Frontiers which will share key takeaways and findings from these events and the scholarly conversations they inspire.
As part of these partnerships, each organization will appoint a representative to our Editorial Board, providing valuable perspectives that help us better understand the needs and priorities of the broader academic community. These board representatives are: Dr. Anthony Gristwood, Principal Lecturer and Faculty Chair of CEA CAPA’s London Center, who has already been serving on our board over the last two years and Dr. W. Patrick Bingham, Director of the RAISE Center and Research Assistant Professor of Contemporary Global Studies at Wake Forest University, who has a strong record of scholarly publishing and engagement in the field and served as co-editor of Frontiers’ special issue of research-to-practice briefs in 2023. These representatives will serve in an advisory capacity; all editorial decisions remain guided by scholarly rigor and all final journal actions are taken by our editor, Dr. Elaine Meyer-Lee.
Looking ahead, we welcome inquiries from organizations that share our commitment to advancing the knowledge-building dialogue around education abroad and student mobility. Interested parties can reach out to us at frontiersjournal@forumea.org to learn more.
We are grateful to CEA CAPA and the RAISE Center at Wake Forest University for their support and look forward to working together to strengthen the journal’s role as a leading platform for scholarly exchange within the field of education abroad.
